The formula to calculate the zakat is:

Lowest gold holdings in the period × Gold price set by PPZ-MAIWP × Zakat rate

Example:

• Lowest Gold Investment for the period: 300 g
• Gold Investment Nisab: 85 g
• Gold Price per gram (based on annual Nisab rate set by PPZ-MAIWP for 2025): RM349.88
• Zakat Rate: 2.577%

Calculation:

300 g × RM349.88 × 2.577%

Total Zakat = RM2,704.92
