Implementing a new trading system like BTS3 involves several key risks. Bursa Malaysia is working closely with all stakeholders to manage these effectively and ensure a smooth transition.
1. Stakeholder Readiness
All participants—POs, ISVs, and IVs—will need time to update systems, onboard, and prepare for cutover.
- Bursa Malaysia will share information early, including message specifications, to give participants sufficient time to plan and implement changes
2. Performance & Reliability
As with any new system, there may need a period of stabilisation.
- Extensive performance, failover, and disaster recovery tests will be conducted to ensure BTS3 meets required standards before go-live
3. Resource Constraints
Multiple system upgrades across the region may put pressure on both vendor and participant resources.
- This will be managed through early planning, advance resource allocation, and a focus on minimising system changes where possible
4. Hardware Procurement & Lead Times
Global supply chain challenges may impact the availability of required hardware.
- Participants are encouraged to assess their infrastructure needs early and plan procurement in advance to avoid delays
