There are two categories.
1. Individual Investor, who must:
- be 18 years old and above;
- have a National Registration Identity Card (NRIC/MyKad if a Malaysian citizen) or a valid passport (if not a Malaysian citizen);
- have a valid permanent address in Malaysia;
2. Non-individual Investor, who must:
- be a company incorporated in Malaysia and/or properly registered with the Registrar of Businesses or the Companies Commission of Malaysia;
- be a Tax Resident in Malaysia only, as defined under the Income Tax Act 1967 (“Resident Investor”);
- not be a “U.S. Person”;
U.S. Person means a U.S. citizen or resident individual, a partnership or corporation organised in the U.S. or under the laws of the U.S. or any State thereof, a trust if (i) a court within the U.S. would have authority under applicable law to render orders or judgements concerning substantially all issues regarding administration of the trust, and (ii) one or more U.S. Persons have the authority to control all substantial decisions of the trust, or an estate of a decedent that is a citizen or resident of the U.S;
- have a valid email address for electronic communications and log-in details;
- have and maintain a bank account in your own name or company name (where applicable) with a financial institution in Malaysia, which is valid and able to effect electronic payments or telegraphic transfers;
- pass our internal verification and checking process, as well as FATCA and CRS declaration verification, as required by the Malaysian legislations; and
- declare the category of Investor you belong to, i.e. Angel Investor, Retail Investor or Sophisticated Investor.
(Note: All Non-Individual Investors are categorised as “Sophisticated Investors”)
